What is FOCUS?
FOCUS (Financial Operations and Cost Usage System) is a cost export structure designed by the FinOps Foundation to enhance financial transparency and operational efficiency and align the billing export between all the clouds. The FOCUS export is now available for Azure and allows customers to access both Amortized and Unblended cost data within a single export for precise cost management.
Benefits of FOCUS in Anodot
With FOCUS integration in Anodot, you gain several advantages to streamline your cloud cost management:
-
New Cost Types: Access both Amortized and Unblended cost data within a single account.
- New Filters: New filters on the Cost and Usage and Assets page for deeper and more complex analysis, such as Charge Category, Publisher Category, Azure Cost Center, and more.
-
Enhanced Features: Leverage Anodot’s powerful capabilities with those two cost types, including:
- Budget definitions.
- Advanced alerting systems.
- Kubernetes (K8s) data - soon! -
Simplified Management: Manage your Azure costs more efficiently alongside your other cloud environments and Multicloud analysis across cost types.
Important Notes Before Performing the Migration
- Filter Changes: In the FOCUS export, Azure updated the mapping of certain field values, which may affect existing customizations across the platform, such as dashboards (e.g., some 'service' filter values have been added or removed).
- Migrated Account: Migrate the unblended Azure account if you have both unblended and amortized accounts.
- K8s Integration: Migration does not include K8s data. If your account uses K8s, do not migrate it. Contact support for guidance- support@anodot.com.
- Historical Data: Existing historical data in Anodot will remain unchanged (unblended or amortized).
- Future Data: Data fetched after migration will follow the FOCUS export format.
